SUBSTANCE: invention relates to roll absorbent articles such as towels, napkins, toilet paper, and the like. Rodless roll of absorbent sheet products is made of spirally wound web (11) of an absorbent substrate comprising at least two superimposed substrate layers (10A, 10B), said web of the absorbent core being wound so as to form axial hollow passage (42) disposed in the center with respect to rodless roll (40) and extending from one edge to the other of the edge of rodless roll (40). Web of absorbent body (11) further comprises reinforcing insert (16) which is inserted between two superimposed layers (10A, 10B) of the absorbent substrate and positioned so as to straighten axial hollow passage (42). Reinforcing insert (16) is so long that it extends for at least three quarters of the perimeter of passageway (42), preferably completely around the perimeter of passageway (42).
