FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: application describes a method and apparatus for assessing the fluid saturation of rock strata using complex dielectric permittivity. Method may include calculating the fluid saturation using the estimated rate of change at a certain frequency of the imaginary part of the dielectric constant relative to the actual part of the dielectric constant. Method may include performing dielectric permittivity calculations using an electromagnetic instrument in the wellbore. Device may comprise an electromagnetic device and at least one processor configured to store data received by the electromagnetic device in memory. At least one processor can also be configured to perform calculations for fluid saturation.
EFFECT: increased accuracy of assessing the fluid saturation of rock strata.
