To regulate the electrical output of a generator, a signal indicating at least one characteristic of the electrical output is received. In the method, the first sub-controller with a relatively fast response is configured to provide a first control signal based on at least one said characteristic, and the second sub-controller with a relatively slow response is configured to provide a second control signal based on at least one said characteristic. And the output provides a combined control signal to adjust the electrical output based on the first and second control signals.

EFFECT: technical result is the provision of a regulator strategy that minimizes the risk of mechanical violations.
