FIELD: food industry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of food storage. Method for removal of sprouts from sprouted tubers includes the step of applying the composition to said tuber, containing at least 50 % limonene, expressed as the weight of limonene with respect to the total weight of the composition, in an amount effective to remove said sprouts. This effective amount corresponds to a dosage of limonene from 30 to 400 ml per ton of tubers. Application is repeated at least once with an interval of 3 days to 6 weeks.
EFFECT: it is possible to remove sprouts from tubers that are intended for sale in fresh form, where pesticide residues are practically unacceptable.
