FIELD: displays.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to liquid crystalline displays. Gray scale value setting method for a liquid crystal panel comprises obtaining actual brightness values of each greyscale G of the liquid crystal panel at front view and oblique view angles. According to the area ratio of the main pixel areas M and the sub-pixel areas S, the actual brightness values are divided. Corresponding relationship between the greyscale and the actual brightness values in the main pixel areas M and the sub-pixel areas S for all grayscales of the liquid crystal panel is established. Theoretical brightness values of each greyscale are calculated and a combination of greyscales inputted into a main pixel area M and a sub-pixel area S is set, so that the sum of the differences between the actual brightness values and the theoretical brightness values of the pixel unit at the front view and oblique view angles is minimal.
EFFECT: technical result is reduction of colour shift, which is formed with shifted or lateral viewing.
