SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the automotive industry. Pneumatic tire contains on its tread surface a contact area that contains an edge or a plurality of blocks. Contact area contains in its contact patch a plurality of narrow shallow grooves and a plurality of recesses. Proportion Se of the area of the apertures of the recesses in the zones of the end portions in the lateral direction of the tire of one continuous contact patch in the contact area and the proportion Sc of the area of the openings of the recesses in the zone of the central part in the lateral direction of the tire have the relation Sc < Se. Zone of the central part is defined as the zone in the central part in the lateral direction of the tire, which occupies 50 % of the continuous contact patch, and the zones of the end portions are defined as zones in the left and right end portions in the lateral direction of the tire, occupying 25 %.
EFFECT: technical result – improved braking performance of the tire when driving on ice.
