FIELD: lighting engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to display devices. Device comprises an array of light emitting elements for emitting light, a plurality of optical elements for receiving light from the array of light emitting elements and a positioning device. Each optical element is made in the form of a holographic optical element, a reflective coating or a diffraction grating. Plurality of optical elements includes a first optical element and a second optical element, where the first optical element is arranged to receive light from at least one light emitting element from the array of light emitting elements and to be able to form a first collimated light beam from the received light, said beam passing through the first part of the exit pupil of the display device. Second optical element is arranged to receive light from at least one light emitting element from the array of light emitting elements and is configured to form the received light a second collimated light beam passing through the second part of the exit pupil of the display device, wherein the second part of the exit pupil is different from the first part of the exit pupil. Positioning device is designed to position the display device in such a position relative to the user's eye, in which the user's eye is positioned to correctly use the display device, where, during such use, the first collimated light beam forms an image on the central part of the user's retina, including the central fossa, and the second collimated light beam forms an image on the peripheral part of the retina outside the central fossa.
EFFECT: higher energy efficiency and brightness.
