FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metallurgy. To determine the contour of the dimple of an ingot of aluminum and aluminum alloys, in semi-continuous casting, a liquid alloy of the same chemical composition as the ingot is poured into the liquid hole of the ingot, moreover nanopowder of refractory chemical compound is preliminarily introduced into the alloy poured into the liquid dimple. Said nanopowder of refractory compound causes crystallization of the metal, the linear image of which separates the usual large-crystalline structure of the ingot from the fine-crystalline structure within the contour of the dimple.
EFFECT: ensures accurate reproduction of the contour of the dimple without contamination of subsequent casting work.
