FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metallurgy. Aluminum melt is prepared in a mixer. AlTiB 5/1 rod in the volume of no more than 3 kg/ton of the melt is degassed and fed into the aluminum melt, and the temperature of the aluminum melt in the crystallizer is maintained at 700–710 °C. Aluminum melt is filtered and poured into a crystallizer. Ingot is cooled. Aluminum melt is prepared with the components in it, by weight: Na, Mg, Cr 0.0001–0.007, V 0.002–0.025, Ca 0.0001–0.0007, and the ratio of Fe/Si concentrations in the aluminum melt is maintained below 1.5 or higher than 3.5.
EFFECT: ensures the elimination of defects in the structure of cast ingots, including a herringbone structure defect.
