METHOD FOR OBTAINING WATER-SOLUBLE HOMO- OR COPOLYMERS INCLUDING (MET)ACRYLAMIDE Russian patent published in 2018 - IPC C08F2/10 C08F20/56 C08F4/40 C08F2/50 C08F4/04

Abstract RU 2671863 C2

FIELD: chemistry; technological processes.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a process for the preparation of water-soluble homo- or copolymers comprising (meth)acrylamide, which can be used as a thickener, flocculant, reinforcing material for paper, for oil recovery or for use in the mining industry. Process for the preparation of water-soluble homo- or copolymers is that to the cooled to less than 5°C monomer aqueous solution comprising water, from 25 to 45 % by weight ethylene-unsaturated monomers (A), from 0.1 to 2 % by weight stabilizer (B), azoinitiator (C) with a value of 10 h t1/2 from 40 °C to 75°C, a redox polymerization initiator (D) is added. Aqueous monomer solution has a pH value of <7. Monomer solution is inertized. Next, gel-polymerization of the aqueous monomer solution under adiabatic conditions is carried out. Polymerization start temperature is less than 5°C. Under the influence of heat, the mixture is heated to a temperature of 60°C to 100°C, forming a polymer gel. Resulting polymer gel is dried. At least 70 wt.% of the starting monomers (A) are monoethylene-unsaturated hydrophilic monomers (A1), one of the monomers (A1) being (meth)acrylamide. Sulfur compounds are used as the stabilizer (B), which prevents the destruction of the polymer by molecular oxygen.

EFFECT: invention makes it possible to obtain homo- or copolymers having high viscosity and high molecular weight.
