SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of magnetohydrodynamics. Magnetohydrodynamic simulator includes a plasma container. Magnetohydrodynamic simulator also includes a first ionizable gas contained substantially within the plasma container. In addition, the magnetohydrodynamic simulator also includes a first electrical circuit located adjacent to the plasma container in which the first electrical circuit includes an arrester, a first electrical contact on the first side of the arrester, a second electrical contact on the second side of the arrester, and a first substance having at least a low magnetic susceptibility and high conductivity. First electrical loop can be composed of one or more wire loop coils. In such cases, electrical contact is established through ends of the coil wires. Magnetohydrodynamic simulation device includes an electroconductive first coil wound around the plasma container and through the first electrical loop.

EFFECT: possibility of modeling magnetohydrodynamics in a non-fluid medium.
