FIELD: electrical equipment.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to electrical engineering, to converters designed to transform electrical energy into mechanical energy and vice versa due to the electrostatic forces of the Coulomb attraction between charges of opposite signs, and can be used in industry and technology as electric motors and generators. In the claimed CME, internal compression cells are used, which are compressed in a direction that does not coincide with the direction of movement of the electrodes inside the cells, whereby the electrodes are in a state of natural tension during operation, which helps eliminate elastic deformations and sticking of the electrodes, which limits the lower limits for the thickness of the materials used. Thickness of the electrodes in the claimed CME is limited only by the technological capabilities of the production of foil and thin polymer films. It is possible to use ultrathin films with a thickness of less than a micron, for example, from graphene or other ultrathin composite materials.

EFFECT: technical result consists in increasing the specific power due to the fact that in the CME it is possible to use simultaneously and synchronously a large number of thin electrodes, located as close as possible to each other, which allows to obtain a large total surface area of simultaneously interacting electrodes per unit volume.
