FIELD: medicine; pharmaceuticals.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to the chemical and pharmaceutical industry and is a mixture of empty liposomes for the treatment or prevention of a bacterial infection, containing cholesterol (≥30 wt%) and sphingomyelin in a ratio of 5:1-1:2 (w/w), with other empty liposomes containing lipids or phospholipids selected from the group of cholesterol, sphingomyelins, phosphatidylcholines, phosphatidylethanolamines and phosphatidylserines, as well as to methods of treating and preventing bacterial infections using such mixtures, including when combined, parallel and mediated with standard antibiotics against bacterial infection.
EFFECT: inventions enables to prevent the death of laboratory mice infected with lethal doses of Staphylococcus aureus or Streptococcus pneumoniae.
