FIELD: machine building.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates generally to bearing assemblies, and more particularly to radial-bearing assemblies comprising elastically mounted gas diffusion bearing shells. Radial-bearing assembly comprises a bearing housing, bearing shells, support assemblies for bearing shells. Bearing housing has a radial outer wall. Bearing shells are installed inside the housing and contain a gas permeable porous material and/or an array of gas supply holes. Support assemblies for the bearing shells are arranged radially between the bearing shells and the radial outer wall. Each of the support assemblies comprises a spring assembly and damper assembly (248). Damper assembly (248) comprises a hermetically sealed damper filled with a fluid, and comprises densified damper housing (256) comprising housing (264) with cavity (266) in which restricting flow path (268) is formed, wherein said cavity (266) and path (268) are filled with viscous fluid (258). Piston (260) is disposed within said cavity (266) and divides it into first adjustable volume (278) and second adjustable volume (280). Restricting flow path (268) provides a flow communication between first and second adjustable volumes (278, 280). Load transfer member (262) is connected to piston (260) and is configured to transfer mechanical loads acting on bearing shells (230) to piston (260).

EFFECT: reduced resistance to rotation of radial-bearing assemblies used to support rotor assemblies in turbo machines with non-grease lubrication; increased wear resistance of such units; increased damping ability; increased ability to withstand a static load; increased damping capacity of damper assemblies suitable for use in oil-free working environments.
