SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a process for the preparation of substituted 2,6-bis[1-(phenylimino)ethyl]pyridine by condensation of 2,6-diacetylpyridine and substituted aniline in the presence of a heterogeneous catalyst, characterized in that the process is carried out in an organic solvent medium, as a catalyst, methylaluminoxane-treated silica gel is used, as a dehydrating agent, molecular sieves with a pore size of 3 or 4 Å is used, and aniline containing one or more electron-withdrawing substituents (F, CI, Br, CF3) in the aromatic ring is used as a substituted aniline.
EFFECT: new method for the synthesis of substituted 2,6-bis[1-(phenylimino)ethyl]pyridine is developed, with an increased yield of the reaction product due to almost complete suppression of the side processes.
