SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medical equipment, specifically to an applicator system for surgical fasteners. Applicator system for surgical fasteners for attaching an implant to tissue comprises an insertion tool, at least one cartridge, a surgical instrument or a handle. Insertion tool has a shaft with a proximal end, a distal end and an insertion fork connected to the distal end of the shaft. Cartridge comprises a plurality of surgical fasteners, the surgical fasteners being removable from the cartridge one at a time by engaging one of the surgical fasteners with the fork to insert and remove the engaged surgical fastener from the cartridge. Surgical instrument has a longitudinal axis and clamping jaws at its distal end, wherein the surgical instrument is configured to hold the insertion tool between the clamping jaws such that the insertion tool extends laterally along a second axis intersecting the longitudinal axis of the surgical instrument. Handle has a longitudinal axis, a proximal end and a distal end, wherein the insertion tool is fixed to the distal end of the handle such that the insertion tool shaft extends laterally along a second axis intersecting the longitudinal axis of the handle.

EFFECT: use of the invention provides the user with real tactile sensation when inserting the surgical fastener into the tissue, manual control of the insertion force, allows the user to push the surgical fastener into the tissue if necessary and provides the user with a wide range of mechanical locking capabilities, similar to those available with the use of suture materials.
