FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in the manufacture of bimetallic billets and transition elements, mainly from difficult-to-weld plate dissimilar metals, by explosion welding. Driver plate id set over the fixed plate with a gap and located thereon explosive charge is initiated. Simultaneously with the initiation of charge, ultrasonic vibrations are fed to the ends of the fixed and missile plates in the direction opposite to the detonation direction. Between the driver plate and the charge there is a damping layer, consisting of a rubber gasket and a layer of polypropylene. Thickness of the layer is 0.2–0.4 of the thickness of the charge.
EFFECT: invention provides an increase in the strength of the compound, a decrease in the number of meltings and non-metallic inclusions, as well as a reduction in the consumption of explosives.
