FIELD: technological processes.

SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in production of flat bimetallic workpieces from dissimilar metals, namely from titanium and aluminum-magnesium alloy. A fixed plate of aluminum-magnesium alloy, a projected titanium plate and an explosive charge with a detonator are successively installed on the damping base. Proposed titanium plate is made with length and width greater than fixed plate and is installed on fixed plate with gap, height of which is selected based on the condition of providing the share of kinetic energy spent on plastic deformation of materials in the connection zone of 0.85–1.48 MJ/m2. Welded surfaces of plates are preliminarily ground to roughness of not more than Ra=3.2. Along the perimeter of the projected titanium plate, grooves are made with depth of not less than half of its thickness, taking into account its dimensions. During welding, they are located above the edge of the fixed plate. Detonation speed during explosion welding is provided with 2,350–2,450 m/s.

EFFECT: method enables to obtain composite materials of high quality.
