SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in fuel management systems for internal combustion engines (ICE). Systems and methods for supplying gaseous fuel to an internal combustion engine are disclosed, which include the direct injection of gaseous fuel into engine cylinders. In one example, when the pressure in the fuel tank for gaseous fuel exceeds a certain value, gaseous fuel is supplied directly from the tank to the nozzles, which directly inject gaseous fuel into the cylinders of the internal combustion engine, and when the pressure in the fuel tank for gaseous fuel becomes equal to or drops below a certain value, the gaseous fuel pump is activated to maintain the required pressure level of the gaseous fuel for direct injection of the gaseous fuel into the cylinders of the internal combustion engine.
EFFECT: invention allows the engine to operate with direct injection of gaseous fuel into the cylinder for a longer time.
