FIELD: machine building.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in fuel management systems for internal combustion engines. Disclosed are methods and a system to achieve improved response of engine torque to a request to increase the engine torque from the driver’s side, when a transition is made from direct injection of gaseous fuel into the cylinder to injection of gaseous fuel into the intake passage, for example, due to insufficient gas pressure in the gaseous fuel tank. In one example, if it is necessary to switch from direct injection of gaseous fuel into the cylinder to injection of gaseous fuel into the intake passage, the engine idling speed is increased to shorten the response of the engine torque based on the engine operating conditions.
EFFECT: thus, the engine performance and vehicle acceleration are improved by switching the gaseous fuel injection from direct injection to injection into the intake passage.
