FIELD: hydraulic displacement machines; pumps and compressors.
SUBSTANCE: pump system comprises a constant pressure control model having a logic, comparator or PID controller and a pump model having one or more operating pumps. Controller is adapted to respond to set point signalling and to provide speed signalling. Pump model is designed to respond to speed signalling and control one or more operating pumps operating at substantially constant outlet pressure. Logic controller of the pump system has a signal processor or processor module adapted to respond to speed signalling, as well as user input signalling, containing information about the set point and speed, related to one or more operating pumps in the pump system.
EFFECT: controller is configured to determine set point signalling containing set point control information to compensate for friction losses of the system and maintain a substantially constant output pressure of the pump system to change the flow using interpolation based on the relationship between the minimum set point for minimum speed and maximum set point for maximum speed, to find the value of the adjusted set point for speed to maintain a substantially constant output pressure of the pump system, in response to received speed signalling and user input signalling.
