In the method, the autonomous installation is a sealed container with water, inside which there is a tank for storing a foaming agent with a gas generator of its displacement into the container with water and forming a foaming agent solution, which is saturated with the products of combustion of the charge and under the pressure of the gases, formed in the gas generators of displacement, is fed to the burning object with the formation of low-expansion foam. This claimed method is carried out using a fire extinguishing system, which includes two or more autonomous installations, equipped with fire detectors, and at the signal of a triggered detector, the first one is turned on, which is diametrically opposite to the fire center.

EFFECT: rapid extinguishing of large fires in tank farms for fuel storage, warehouses, workshops, and the burning of various petroleum products in open spaces is ensured.
