SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to a method and apparatus for diagnosing a valve using electric valve actuators. Electric valve actuator comprises: an electric motor for actuating the valve, rotation sensors for monitoring the rotation of the drive shaft associated with the electric motor to determine the distance travelled by the drive shaft, a valve position sensor for monitoring the position of the valve flow control member. Electric actuator of the valve comprises a processor for generating a warning signal based on feedback from the rotation sensors and the valve position sensor, wherein the warning signal indicates whether a fault is related to the valve actuator or to the valve. Tangible computer readable storage medium containing instructions is disclosed.
EFFECT: technical result is to solve the problem of diagnosing probable malfunctions both in the valve itself and in the corresponding actuator.
