FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in the electroplating industry for the decontamination or disposal of liquid waste containing hexavalent chromium, as well as for the decontamination and disposal of production waste containing mono ethanol amine. For carrying out the process, spent solutions containing hexavalent chromium are treated with a reducing agent, which is mono ethanol amine, and the resulting reaction mixture is maintained for a time sufficient to convert chromium (+6) to chromium (+3). As a source of mono ethanol amine liquid wastes are used for obtaining electrochemical or chemical coatings with metals and metal alloys or mono ethanol amine which has become unsuitable for work or mono ethanol amine which is part of the spent gas purification solution.
EFFECT: method provides mutual neutralization of two toxic industrial wastes, significantly reduces the cost of environmental protection, expands the arsenal of hexavalent chromium reducing agents and methods for utilization of industrial wastes.
