FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods of purifying spent aqueous solutions from chromium-(+6) compounds and can be used for disinfecting or treating liquid production wastes which contain chromium (+6), as well as for disinfecting formalin which is unsuitable for operation and which contains formaldehyde polymer residues. Spent chromium (+6) solutions are neutralised in an acidic medium using a reagent - reducing agent in form of formalin which is unsuitable for operation, which contains formaldehyde polymer residue which precipitates during storage of formalin.
EFFECT: method enables mutual neutralisation of two types of toxic wastes, reduces expenses on environmental protection.
