SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for reducing the biological burden in large granules of a dry pet food product. Method involves the production of large granules, wherein the percentage porosity of large granules on the surface is more than about 20 %, and treating the large granules with cold plasma under conditions sufficient to ensure at least 1 log reduction of the biological burden in the large granules. Alternatively, the invention relates to a method for reducing the biological burden in large granules of a dry pet food product, according to which large granules with a porous surface are obtained and the large granules are treated with cold plasma under conditions sufficient to provide at least 1 log reduction of the biological burden in the granules. Treatment of the large granules is selected from the group consisting of rotation, mixing, turning, movement, and combinations thereof, with a plasma flow.
EFFECT: invention makes it possible to efficiently treat a dry feed product having large granules using cold plasma, without a clear increase in fat oxidation.
