INSTALLATION FEATURES FOR SURGICAL INSTRUMENT END EFFECTOR CARTRIDGE Russian patent published in 2018 - IPC A61B17/72

Abstract RU 2675661 C2

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to medical equipment, specifically to installation features for a surgical instrument end effector cartridge. End effector comprises a staple cartridge, a jaw and an anvil, connected to the jaw and adapted to move relative to the jaw. Staple cartridge comprises a cartridge body and a lower cartridge tray. Cartridge body and / or lower cartridge tray comprises at least one proximal protrusion engagement feature. Jaw has a channel and at least one protrusion. Channel comprises first and second spaced-apart surface and base extending therebetween. Channel is configured to accommodate stable cartridge. At least one protrusion extends transversely from at least one inner surface into the channel and is spaced from the base to form a gap between at least one protrusion and the base. Gap extends from the bottom surface of at least one protrusion to the upper surface of the base. At least one protrusion is configured for alignment with at least one protrusion engagement feature when connecting the staple cartridge and the jaw. Surgical instrument includes a handle portion, said end effector, a shaft, a first actuator and a second actuator. Shaft has a distal end, wherein the end effector connected to the distal end of the shaft. First actuator is configured to move the anvil towards the jaw. Second actuator is configured to push wedge-shaped sleds and scalpel through the staple cartridge. In a second embodiment, said end effector comprises a staple cartridge, a jaw, an anvil and a firing beam. Staple cartridge comprises a cartridge body, the cartridge body comprising a longitudinal groove and a plurality of stapling holes. Cartridge body includes at least one slot. Jaw has a channel and at least one protrusion. Channel comprises first and second spaced-apart surface and base extending therebetween. Channel is configured to accommodate the staple cartridge. At least one protrusion extends in the transverse direction into the channel from at least one inner surface and is spaced from the base to form a gap between at least one protrusion and the base. Gap extends from the bottom surface of at least one protrusion to the upper surface of the base. At least one protrusion is configured for alignment with at least one slot when connecting the staple cartridge and the jaw. Anvil comprises a plurality of recesses for giving the staples shape. Firing beam is configured to slide through the longitudinal groove. In the second embodiment, said surgical instrument comprises a housing, an end effector, a shaft, a first actuator, and a second actuator. End effector extends distally from the body and comprises a staple cartridge, a jaw, an anvil and a firing beam. Staple cartridge comprises a cartridge body having a longitudinal groove, a plurality of holes for the staples and at least one slot. Staple cartridge further comprises a wedge-shaped slide, configured to push a plurality of staples through the plurality of stapling holes. Jaw has a channel having first and second internal surfaces separated from each other and a base extending therebetween. Channel is configured to accommodate the staple cartridge. Jaw has at least one inwardly extending protrusion, wherein a gap is formed between the at least one inwardly extending protrusion and the base, extending between the bottom of the at least one inwardly extending protrusion and the top of the base. At least one protrusion is aligned with at least one slot when connecting the staple cartridge and the jaw. Anvil comprises a plurality of recesses for giving the staples shape. Anvil is connected to the jaw at the axis, transverse to the longitudinal axis of the jaw, and the anvil is rotatable around the transverse axis. Firing beam is configured to slide through the longitudinal groove and comprises a scalpel. Shaft has a distal end, wherein the end effector connected to the distal end of the shaft. First actuator is designed to rotate the anvil around the transverse axis. Second actuator is configured to provide sliding of the wedge-shaped sleds and scalpel through the staple cartridge.

EFFECT: use of the group of inventions enables the prevention of premature ejection of staples and / or premature locking.
