FIELD: medical equipment.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a surgical instrument for treating a patient's tissue. Surgical instrument for treating a patient's tissue comprises a shaft assembly and an end effector. End effector extends from the barrel assembly along the center line of the end effector. End effector comprises a first branch, a second branch and a staple cartridge. First jaw has a stop configured to form staples pressed to the anvil. Second jaw comprises a translationally movable element configured to actuate a wedge-like sled. First and second jaws are configured to switch between open configuration and closed configuration. Staple cartridge is arranged in second jaw. Staple cartridge comprises a platform, staple holes and a staple. Platform faces the limit stop. Staple holes are formed in the platform. Brackets are located inside staple holes. First and second branches form a straight part of the end effector and an arc-shaped part of the end effector. Arc-shaped portion extends distally from the straight portion such that the arched part of the end effector is configured to provide access to the tissue in the patient's body for treatment. Translationally movable element has no cutting edge.
EFFECT: use of the invention provides safe and effective liver resection.
