SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for producing lactic acid, comprising the following steps: filtering an aqueous solution containing lactic acid through a nanofiltration membrane to extract an aqueous solution of lactic acid from the permeate side (stage A); distilling the aforementioned aqueous solution of lactic acid to extract lactic acid from the vapor side (stage B); and crystallizing the aforementioned lactic acid obtained in step B, and ensuring separation of the solid and the liquid to extract the lactic acid crystals (step C). Invention also relates to the production of polylactic acid. Lactic acid crystals with a high degree of purity can be stably produced, having excellent solid-liquid separation characteristics.
EFFECT: resulting lactic acid can be used as a material for the production of polylactic acid, and polylactic acid can be obtained with excellent physical properties.
