SUBSTANCE: invention is aimed at purifying the target oligosaccharide from the fermentation broth through the use of filtration methods. A method of purifying a target oligosaccharide from a fermentation broth is disclosed, the said method includes the following: - providing a fermentation broth that contains the target oligosaccharide, biomass, microbial cells and carbohydrates other than the target oligosaccharide; - removing microbial cells from the fermentation broth, thereby obtaining a process stream; - subjecting the process stream to a first stage of filtration using a nanofiltration membrane, thereby obtaining a filtrate that contains the target oligosaccharide; - subjecting the filtrate to a second stage of filtration using a nanofiltration membrane, thereby obtaining a retentate that contains the target oligosaccharide; and - removing salts from the process stream using electrodialysis to thereby obtain a purified preparation of the target oligosaccharide, where the target oligosaccharide is a neutral human milk oligosaccharide (HMO) or sialylated HMO, wherein the said method does not include an ion exchange step, and wherein the solution of the purified the oligosaccharide is spray-dried after filter sterilization.
EFFECT: invention provides a simple, effective industrial purification of the target oligosaccharide, resulting in a product having a purity that makes it suitable for human consumption.
