FIELD: geophysics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to geoelectrical exploration and can be used to conduct searches for geological objects. Essence: eight horizontal radial grounded lines, converging to the center at equal angular intervals, with a radius corresponding to the depth of research, and grounded by the central electrode. Pulsed current is fed alternately to each horizontal radial grounded line. Electromagnetic transient signal-response of the medium is measured. Value of the actual current of a horizontal radial grounded line is recorded. In the response from the investigated medium, the contribution of the alternating electromagnetic field of the transverse magnetic (TM) polarization is identified by summing the responses normalized to the actual current when the medium is excited from each of the eight horizontal radial grounded lines.
EFFECT: increasing the efficiency of electromagnetic soundings of the Earth when detecting weak lateral inhomogeneities, for example, of the “oil reservoir” type.
