SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of medicine, namely to forensic medicine, and can be used for posthumous determination of the fact of instantaneous death during a forensic examination. Conduct a study on the concentration of substances of low and medium molecular weight (SLMMW) in serum (Ua) and in the urine (Uu) of the dead body using the spectrophotometric method at wavelengths from 238 to 298 nm in increments of 4 nm, the definition of their ratio and when the value of the ratio Ua/Uu≤1 determines the fact of instant death without an atonal period; if the value of the ratio Ua/Uu>1 determines the occurrence of death with the presence of agony.

EFFECT: invention provides the ability to determine the fact of instantaneous death without an atonal period, allows to express diagnostics as soon as possible after a forensic medical examination of a dead body, it does not require the removal of organ parts for histological and histochemical studies.
