FIELD: instrument engineering.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of navigation instrumentation and can be used in devices displaying the status of vehicles. Vehicle display device is configured to display the navigation route to the destination of the considered vehicle and includes navigation device 13, front view camera 14, module 15 for detection of the objects located upfront, display controller 18 and display 19. Front view camera captures the front view ahead of the vehicle in question. Detection module of the objects located upfront determines the object on the surface of the carriageway in front of the considered vehicle based on the front view image captured by the front view camera. Display controller draws an overlapping portion in which the navigation route calculated by the navigation device, and the object defined by the front-facing detection module overlaps each other in the display area on the windshield and the non-overlapping portion, where the navigation route and the object do not overlap in the display area on the windshield in such a way that the overlapping area should be presented in a mode different from that for the non-overlapping area and displays the drawn image on the display.
