FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to catalytic chemistry, in particular to preparation of a catalyst for steam reforming of carbon monoxide, and can be used to produce hydrogen and a hydrogen-containing gas. Iron-chromium catalyst for steam conversion of carbon monoxide is proposed, containing oxides of iron, chromium, copper and manganese, prepared on the basis of compounds of iron, chromium and promoting additives, composition of raw materials for preparation of the catalyst additionally includes a milled iron-chromium catalyst in the following ratio of components: milled iron-chromium catalyst:iron oxide 1:(2–16), respectively. Catalyst has the following chemical composition, wt.%: chromium oxide 6.0–10.0, copper oxide 2.0–4.0, manganese oxide 0.1–1.5, iron oxide the rest is up to 100, while the heat treatment after molding the catalyst mass is carried out in a drying when the temperature rises at a rate of not more than 50 °C/h to 250–350 °C. At this temperature, the catalyst is kept for 4 hours. Then the temperature is raised with a speed of no more than 50 °C/h to the temperature of 400–420 °C. At this temperature, the catalyst is held until the loss on ignition is no more than 5.0 %, but not less than 8 hours.

EFFECT: technical result consists in obtaining an iron-chromium catalyst obtained using production waste, with increased mechanical strength, catalytic activity and stability while maintaining other high consumer indicators (sulfur content and bulk density).
