FIELD: steam conversion catalysts. SUBSTANCE: iron compound is mixed with chromic acid aqueous solution and manganese salt to give mixture, from which granules are formed. The latter are then dried and calcined to give steam conversion catalyst containing chromium and manganese oxides. Invention is distinguished by (i) adding at least one alkali-earth metal (including Mg, Ca) compound, at least one rare-earth metal (Ce, La, Nd, Pr) compound, and optionally copper compound are added, and (ii) using iron oxide as iron compound. Accordingly, catalyst additionally contains at least two of the above-named alkali-earth and rare-earth metal oxides. EFFECT: increased catalyst stability with high activity preserved. 7 cl, 1 tbl, 7 ex
