FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of metallurgy, in particular to the thermomechanical processing of magnesium-based alloys, and can be used in aircraft manufacturing, rocket technology, in the construction of automobiles, good biocompatibility allows the use of magnesium alloys in medicine. Method of thermomechanical treatment of magnesium-based Mg-Y-Nd-Zr system includes homogenizing annealing at a temperature of 500–530 °C for 7–9 hours, followed by air cooling and equal channel angular pressing, which is carried out in steps in the temperature range of 425–300 °C with a total true degree of deformation of 6.0–8.0, equal channel angular pressing at each stage is carried out at a temperature of 25 °C below the temperature of the previous stage to obtain a structure consisting of grains less than 1 micron in size.
EFFECT: technical result of the invention is to increase the plasticity of the Mg-Y-Nd-Zr system alloys while maintaining sufficient strength due to the change of the preferred deformation mechanism from the base to the prismatic slip.
