FIELD: engines and pumps.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in the internal combustion engines. Method for the engine (10) comprises associating the output signal of NOx sensor (126), (158) to each of NH3 and NOx based on the rate of change of NOx at a point upstream and the rate of change of NOx at a point downstream of exhaust gas selective catalytic reduction (SCR) device (152). Association is based on the length of the segment of the transient signal being determined. Injection of the reducing agent into the engine outlet is regulated by means of nozzle (156) based on the association. Length of the segment of the determined transition signal is calculated in a window used for a given set of conditions. Association further includes a step at which the window is repeatedly moved along the determined transition signal. Window size is adjustable by one or more of a time constant and a time constant modifier. Version of the method for the engine and an engine system are disclosed.
EFFECT: improving the accuracy of estimating leakage of NH3 and NOx neutralisation efficiency.
