SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to the field of medicine, namely to oncology, and discloses a method for treating prostate cancer, a method for administering a drug to a patient, and a medical device. Said method for treating cancer is characterized in that it includes local administration of gemcitabine into the patient's bladder in order to achieve a stable concentration of the drug in the urine in the bladder, which is sufficient to obtain a therapeutic concentration of the drug in the prostate, wherein local administration into the patient's bladder is carried out with a mean dosage of 1 mg/day to 300 mg/day of gemcitabine. Said medical device is characterized in that it comprises a body designed with the possibility of intravesical administration of the medication and release of gemcitabine into the bladder in a therapeutically effective amount for the treatment of prostate cancer.
EFFECT: group of inventions provides the flow of the drug into the bladder from the intravesical device introduced into the bladder, wherein the device continuously releases the drug in the urine in the bladder for an extended period of hours or days.
