FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the processing of materials by cutting and can be used when processing the cylinder bore in an internal combustion engine block. Rotary boring tool comprises a rotating insert carrier body mounted in cartridges. First insert is configured for rough-cutting grooves in the material to be machined, a second insert is configured for finishing the grooves roughly cut by the first insert, and a third insert is a levelling insert for levelling rough material generated by the first two inserts. Second insert has a cutting tooth of a triangular shape, the angle at the apex of which is sharper than the cutting angle of the first insert.
EFFECT: providing gradual machining of the material with its levelling, reduced wear of the cutting inserts.
