SUBSTANCE: invention relates to means for clustering of audio objects. Plurality of audio objects is classified into a number of categories based on information intended to be stored in metadata associated with a plurality of audio objects. Specified number of clusters is assigned to categories. Audio object is placed in each of the categories in at least one of the clusters in accordance with the aforementioned purpose. Assignment of a given number of clusters to categories includes the stage at which for each category a corresponding number of clusters is determined, intended for the purpose of this category, so that the total number of clusters adds up to a given number of clusters.

EFFECT: technical result consists in higher efficiency of clustering of audio objects.
