FIELD: engines and pumps.
SUBSTANCE: invention generally relates to methods for detecting an imbalance in the air-to-fuel ratio in cylinders and to corresponding systems. Said method for detecting an imbalance in the air-to-fuel ratio in an engine cylinder is to regulate the engine operation based on an indication of an imbalance in the air-to-fuel ratio in the cylinder. Said imbalance is detected based on at least two regression analyzes. At least two regression analyzes include the first regression analysis performed for the first data set, and the second regression analysis performed for the larger, second data set, wherein each of the first and second data sets contains the output signal of the second sensor located in the exhaust system downstream of the first sensor located in the exhaust system and a plurality of weighting coefficients of the individual cylinders. Each of the multiple weighting coefficients reflects the contribution of the corresponding individual cylinder to the overall air-to-fuel ratio, measured by the first sensor under certain conditions of rotational speed and engine load.
EFFECT: definition and elimination of the conditions of imbalance of the air-to-fuel ratio in a specific engine cylinder.
