SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the modeling of an improved three-dimensional layout of the bottom of the drill string. Method includes the steps of: (a) determining a characteristic of a drill string comprising a rotary driven drill bit; (b) determining the drilling parameter for the drilling operation; (c) forming a finite element model of the drill string based on the specified characteristic of the drill string and the specified drilling parameter; (d) analyzing the vibration characteristics within the specified finite element model; and (e) predicting the mode of operation of the drill string during the specified drilling operation based on the analysis of vibration characteristics, the specified mode of operation of the drill string contains the direction of movement, the rate of penetration or drilling efficiency specified rotary controlled drill bit; determining the updated drilling parameter for the specified drilling operation; forming the updated finite element model of the drill string based on the specified characteristics of the drill string and the specified updated drilling parameter; performing analysis of the updated vibration characteristics within the specified updated finite element model; predicting the updated mode of operation of the drill string based on the data of the specified analysis of the updated vibration characteristics; and determining whether the specified updated mode of operation of the drill string is improved relative to the specified mode of operation of the drill string.
EFFECT: technical result is to increase the efficiency of modeling.
