SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a smoking article. Smoking article (10) contains tobacco rod (12) and filter (14) connected to tobacco rod (12), filter (14) contains first filter segment (20) and hollow tube segment (18) located downstream of first filter segment (20), while hollow tube segment (18) forms a cavity at the mouth end of the filter providing an unrestricted flow channel that extends from the downstream end of the first filter segment to the mouth end of the filter, wherein the length of hollow tube segment (18) is at least about 25 percent and less than about 50 percent of the overall filter length, and wherein the smoking article comprises ventilation zone (26) in communication with the cavity at a location along hollow tube segment (18), while ventilation zone (26) is located at a distance from approximately 10 mm to approximately 15 mm upstream of the mouth end of filter (14).
EFFECT: creation of a smoking article with a filter containing a cavity at the mouth end, which contributes to the homogenization of the inhaled smoke before it enters the user's mouth.
