SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a nozzle for casting thin slabs made of metal at a very high mass-flow rate, moreover, the nozzle for casting thin slabs has a geometry that is symmetrical about the first symmetry plane P1, defined by the longitudinal axis X1 and the first transverse axis X2, normal to the longitudinal axis X1, and symmetrical about the second symmetry plane P2, defined by the longitudinal axis X1 and the second transverse axis X3, normal to the longitudinal axis X1 and the first transverse axis X2, moreover, nozzle (1) for casting thin slabs passes along the longitudinal axis X1 from an inlet portion located at the upper end of the nozzle for casting thin slabs and containing inlet opening (50u), oriented parallel to the longitudinal axis X1, to an outlet diffusing portion located at the lower end of the nozzle for casting thin slabs and containing first and second outlet openings (51d) of the channels, moreover, the outlet diffusing portion has a width that is measured along the second transverse axis X3 and which is at least three (3) times greater than the thickness measured along the first transverse axis X2, and comprises a connecting portion connecting the inlet portion and the outlet diffusing portion, moreover, the nozzle for casting thin slabs further comprises: central bore (50), defined by the a bore wall and opening at said inlet (50u) and extending along the longitudinal axis X1 and ending at upper end (10u) of divider (10), moreover, central bore (50) contains: upper bore portion (50a) containing an inlet opening extending over a height Ha and adjacent thereto and forming upper boundary (5a) with converging bore portion (50e) of a height He located in the connecting portion of the nozzle for casting thin slabs and adjacent to thin bore portion (50f) of a height Hf, located in the diffusing portion of the nozzle for casting thin slabs and ending at the level of upper end (10u) of divider (10), first and second front channels (51), separated from each other by divider (10) and extending parallel to the second symmetry plan P2, moreover, the first and second front channels pass from first and second channel inlets (51u) extending at least partially on two opposite walls of converging bore portion (50e) to first and second openings (51d) of the inlet channels, first and second front channels (51) have a width W51, which is measured along the first transverse axis X2 and in all cases is less than width D2(X1) of upper bore portion (50a), measured along the first transverse axis X2, central bore (50) has a radius of curvature ρa1 at any point of the bore wall for at least 90 % of the height Ha of upper bore portion (50a) that tends to infinity, moreover, in the section of the nozzle for casting thin slabs along the first symmetry plane P1, the geometry of central bore wall (50) is characterized by the fact that the radius of curvature at any point of the bore wall of converging bore portion (50e) is finite, and the ratio of the height Hf of thin bore portion (50f) to the height He of the converging bore portion (50e) is not more than 1, Hf/He≤1. Invention also relates to a plant for casting metals for casting thin slabs.

EFFECT: invention provides the nozzle for casting thin slabs, which provides excellent control of the flow of molten metal into a mold for casting thin slabs, moreover, a thin slab can be guided directly to the hot rolling operation to produce a thin strip of the required thickness.
