FLUX GRANULATION METHOD Russian patent published in 2019 - IPC B01J2/02 B23K35/00

Abstract RU 2680031 C1

FIELD: technological processes.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for granulating fluxes for welding carbonaceous, alloyed steels and alloys of various compositions. Method of obtaining granulated welding flux includes melting the mixture containing oxides and carbides, with a particle size of 0.1–0.5 mm, the formation of droplets of the melt under the influence of an electric arc and cooling drops with the formation of granules. Flow of the flux into the granulation zone is carried out through a metering device located at a distance of 50–100 mm from the electric arc. Melting of the mixture and the formation of droplets occurs with the passage of the particles of the charge through an electric arc of constant action formed between two graphite electrodes with a diameter of 6–18 mm. Current of 100–300 A flows through the electrodes. Melt droplets formed are cooled to form granules as they fall into a screening device installed below the electric arc.

EFFECT: increasing the productivity of the process of flux granulation and obtaining durable welding flux granules containing non-metallic components and carbides with high doping ability.
