FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in production of granulated fused fluxes for welding and surfacing of steels and alloys of wide range of compositions, in particular for welding of carbon, alloyed steels and alloys. In the heating source there melted is charge of flux containing oxides with size of fractions 0.1–0.5 mm. Charge is formed in the form of a monolithic plate using sodium liquid glass as a binder. As source of heating there used is plasma arc of direct action formed at flow of current 30–200 A between plasmatron and current-conducting electrode. Cooling of formed drops of melt is carried out in water with formation of flux granules.
EFFECT: invention ensures production of strong and non-porous with favorable morphology of welding flux granules, as well as reduction of amount of agglomerates formed during granulation.
