FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used for pelletising of welding compounds for welding steels and alloys of various compositions, particularly, for welding of carbon, alloyed steels and doped alloys. Welding compound powder containing oxides and carbides with particle size not exceeding 0.5 mm is applied on plate surface. Welding compound is fused to form the melt drops in acting on compound layer by short-circuit electric arc at 50-200 A and duration of not over 1 s depending upon compound bulk weight, said arc being initiated between the plate made of current conducting material and electrode. Formed drops are cooled in air to produce pellets.
EFFECT: solid pellets of welding compound that feature high alloying capacity.
