FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to a sample collector assembly, a method for removing a biopsy sample from an organism, a cap removal method, and a sample delivery method. Sample collector assembly (I) is configured for collecting and holding a biopsy sample from an organism with introduction using an actuator into said organism. Collector comprises a perforator having, at the first end of said perforator, a milling cutter with a cutting edge formed on the cutting end of the perforator to remove and hold the biopsy sample. Collector includes a plunger held on said perforator so as to allow it to move relative to said cutter to remove the biopsy sample held by the cutter from the cutter. Collector includes a storage container comprising a container body having an opening closed by a removable cap, which together form a receiving area, wherein the cap comprises a passage into said receiving area, sealed by said collector. Collector holds said sample in said receiving area. Plunger protrudes from said perforator at the second end of said perforator, opposite said first end, to allow the plunger to be pushed in order to retrieve a sample from said collector holding the sample, either (a) at the site and during sampling, or (b) in the laboratory after the sample is collected and held by the collector in said receiving area. Method of removing a biopsy sample from an organism with introduction into said organism using an actuator. Method comprises introducing said collector into said organism so that its cutter moves through said organism for taking a sample from said organism, and removing said collector from said organism by moving it in the direction of introducing the collector through the organism into a storage container with which it is fixed. There is no movement of the plunger relative to said perforator using said actuator during said movement. Method for removing the cap from the assembly comprises steps of pressing the plunger towards the cutting end of the perforator to push the sample from the cutter with the plunger before or after removing the cap, including the collector held therein, from the body of a storage container in order to access the sample. Sample delivery method comprises providing an open sample collector for holding the sample for transfer to a receiver, pushing the plunger towards the cutting end of the perforator to ensure that the plunger pushes the sample from the cutter into contact with the receiver.

EFFECT: reducing the risk of cutting and increasing the speed and convenience of collecting a biopsy sample.
