FIELD: smoking accessories.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an extinguisher for a smoking article. Portable extinguisher (200) for extinguishing one smoking article at a time comprises reservoir (213); chamber (217) having side walls and such dimensions as to accommodate at least a portion of one smoking article; and opening (219) for placing at least a portion of the smoking article in the chamber; wherein the reservoir and the chamber are thermally coupled, the chamber is isolated from the reservoir in such a way that there is no fluid communication between the chamber and the reservoir, and the extinguisher further comprises heat-conducting sleeve (215) thermally coupled to the chamber and the reservoir, wherein the sleeve extends into the interior of the reservoir and is configured to increase heat transfer from the chamber to the reservoir so that during use the thermal energy from the smoking article placed in the chamber is absorbed by the side walls of the chamber, conducted along the length of the sleeve and removed by the reservoir.

EFFECT: creation of an improved extinguisher for smoking articles that can be used with smoking articles comprising a combustible fuel element or heat source.
