SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a cap for extinguishing one smoking article. Said cap for extinguishing a smoking article comprises a hollow cap body having an opening for accommodating a combustion zone of the smoking article and containing an intumescent heat reactive material that is configured to deform under the action of heat from the combustion zone so that at least part of the cap body fits tightly against the smoking article to substantially prevent air from entering the combustion zone, at the same time the body of the cap is tapered on the outside in the direction of the opening to allow the formation of the foot of such caps by placing them one inside the other, moreover, the cap further comprises a non-stick layer located on the outer surface of the cap body to facilitate removal of the cap from the foot of such caps.

EFFECT: creation of an improved extinguisher for smoking articles that can be used with smoking articles containing a combustible fuel element or heat source.
